How To Find Investigators in Egg Factories 101

Image
Well, hello! Transfer week is always so strange. I honestly have no clue what happened on Monday, except that we were on exchanges with Centerville for transfer calls. Oh, I do remember one thing, elder Steed and I went to contact a referral (more about her later) but it turns out she lives in a egg factory compound and some lady kicked us out.  Tuesday  was transfer calls. Elder Clayson and Sister Girvin were the only ones who left, to be replaced by Elder Clark and Sister Tobias. Good times.  Wednesday  was super p-day in Wakee. Hermana Esplin was going home, and it was almost her birthday... So we threw a surprise party for her! It was super fun. It's always a riot, but it's also so sad to say goodbye. Yup. That night we had supper with the Finches, who live in wakee but are assigned to our branch to help it grow. That was fun, since we usually don't get to see them.  Thursday  was transfers! But it was a normal day for us since we both s...

Freight Train-May 21

This week felt like a train ran me over. Definitely ready to start a new week.  Well, last week you might have noticed that we emailed super late, which was due to an adventure we took. We went mushroom hunting with some members...  Little did we know what that would entail...  After 4 hours of traipsing through rose bushes, poison ivy, oak, sumac, and being covered in ticks, and only finding a small bag of these things, we were pretty frustrated to say the least.  After two more hours of scrubbing everything down in dish soap, we were ready to kill something.  We went to bed as soon as possible that day.  The nest day (tuesday) we had exchanges with Centerville (who we went hunting with) and Elder Clayson and I walked all over Centerville, it was great! We were a little sore and salty still, but things were on the up and up.  Then we had dinner with the member. INCREDIBLE. Easily the best food I've eaten on my mission. The...

Become an Expert on Christ

Hello everyone! I'm so happy to be able to talk to you today! I hope your week has been as good as mine, I seriously doubt it was though... Missionary work is the best. Last Monday was pretty neat. We had p-day with the whole district, and went WAY south, to this place called Lamoni... Sound like a Mormon name or what? That's cause it was the old capital of the RLDS church. So we went on some tours and got some rad pictures. Also, there's a lot of Amish people down there, and I was able to buy some of their cheese. It made my day. Later, we came back north to the Mt Pisgah cemetery on the Mormon trail and did some exploring, it was pretty neat. We also went witching... I tried to explain it in a video... It's crazy.  Anyway! Tuesday was Zone Conference, and it was probably the best one yet. I love the constant flow of spiritual experiences that comes as a missionary! President Badger gave us a commitment to become experts on Christ by learning about Him, wit...

Tempests, Tornadoes, and Testimonies

Hello friends and family! I hope all of your weeks have been as wonderful as mine. For some reason, it seems this week has flew by. The  weather is finally getting good! We had some adventures with some spring storms this week. More on that later.  Anyway. Last Tuesday was something called Area Book Appreciation Day, which is basically the day we turned all of the paper teaching records into the digital version. It was a really long day. Thankfully a former investigator had invited us over for dinner with him that night, so we got a break from the paperwork and went over there.  This man, DJ, is one of the most interesting people I've met on my mission. He's ex-military and is a pretty rough looking guy. But he loves the gospel and the missionaries. He was going to get baptized a  while back, but got offended by the district leader at the time saying that he was "a waste of time". He went on a bit of a rant about that and how, "he just wanted to gi...
