Swimming....On a Bike - April 1, 2019
Good morning beautiful humans.
First off, I just want give a huge shoutout to spring (and e. Harvath for that matter). I'm currently sitting on the porch, listening to the birds, and just drinking in the beautiful Iowa morning. God is so good folks. Also, a squirrel just ran across my foot.
This week has been pretty great here in Ankeny. The people are starting to emerge from their hibernation, and that means that missionary is about to get real again. Can't wait.
A couple highlights this week. On Thursday we were scheduling visits and meeting with the church leaders as well as preparing some lessons to seek referrals from members. It was an awesome morning, and we really received a lot of inspiration. It was awesome. Having done that, we only had an hour before our lessons started. So we walked toward the apartments we planned to knock, and felt impressed to knock on a building that seemed totally abandoned. There were two doors, we knocked the first one, found a new person. Knocked the second one, found a new person (taught her entirely through a window). Follow the spirit folks.
Another highlight was our exchange with the YSA, I was with my boy Elder Judy. We didn't get the car this time, so we biked in the rain on Friday. Saturday morning we had a great lesson with a part member family.
Then we found ourselves in another pinch. We didn't have the car, but we had two people to meet with in Des Moines... So we hopped on our bikes and took off. We biked a solid 16 miles. About 10 miles in we encountered a very large puddle in the trail. So we may or may not have swam in the Des Moines river on our bikes. We were quite wet for the last 6 miles.
We're pumped for conference this week. I spoke in church yesterday, and invited everyone to prepare for it by Remembering Christ, Sacrificing something for Christ, and by inviting someone to Christ by inviting them to conference. I'd like to extend that same invitation to you all. Invite someone to watch conference who probably wouldn't have watched it otherwise. You'll be blessed.
I love you all. Hope you have a stellar week!
Godspeed.
Elder Housholder
