Get That Bread - March 25, 2019

Aye folks.

Its been a legit week. Ankeny is the place to be, the members are incredible, the missionaries are nearby, and the work has been progressing quickly. Life is real good.

However, there has been one terribly frustrating thing about this area that I haven't had to deal with before...

Car shares.

Never in my life have I experienced something that wastes as much time, or is as ineffective as sharing a car with other missionaries. I was starting to go crazy.

So, taking things into my own hands, I procured several bikes. Then, using the wonderful skills from my paperboy days, fixed them up. Our mission now has a biking area folks. I've been loving it so far. Elder Hunsaker is working on being as enthused as I am.

Also, I don't know if I've ever told you all about Fufu before. I know the missionaries on here are very aware (@ E. Harvath) but for the rest of you, I'd like to explain what is currently sitting in my stomach.

Fufu is an African staple. You can make it out of almost any flour. Usually they make it from Plantain flour, yam root flour, or corn flour. They mix said flour with water and then cook it till it becomes the consistency of playdough. Then they cook Casava leaf (think sautéed frozen spinach) with whatever meat they can get, bones, fat, and all. You then scoop the "soup" up with the fufu.

So that's what we had for our first dinner yesterday, and it's like having a brick in your stomach. Pray for us.

Anyway, I love you all dearly. Here is one picture with my bikes.

Godspeed,

Elder Housholder
