A Series of Unfortunate (pronounced: COLD) Events - Feb. 4, 2019

Wowzers. What. A. Week.

For starters, it was pretty cold outside, to say the least. We're talking an average of -35 with wind chill, and an extreme at -59 degrees here in Bettendorf. 3 people died of the cold in Iowa this week. There were also 40+ cars off the highway in an hours drive from here to Iowa City. So understandably we weren't allowed to leave our apartments for 3 days. So that was the longest 3 days of my life.

I did take advantage of the time, however, and read the entire Book of Mormon on Tuesday in 16.5 hours. It was exhausting, but also one of the greatest experiences of my life. I didn't think I would actually get very much out of it reading it so fast, but oh how I was wrong! I wish I could describe the experience to you. I know now why people like Brigham Young and others who read it very quickly their first time have such incredible testimonies of it's divinity and purpose. I would highly recommend that sort of study, it will bless your life if you can find time. I especially have a deeper understanding of the Gathering of Israel as a result, and now have a profoundly deeper desire to assist in that gathering. The Book of Mormon is here to prepare the world for the coming of Christ in glory, and it is our responsibility to share this book with the world, so it can gather them into the fold of God. Don't neglect that duty.

Anyway. That's enough spiritual stuff for this weekly, you probably didn't even read that part. If you didn't, you should.

In other news, we prank called all the zone leaders in the mission (Elder Harvath, it was good to hear from you) and the apes, it was hilarious. I also biked 40 miles on our little exercise bike in our gym. I finally am recognizing how out of shape I am. Gotta get on that 6 months to sexy.

We also had a really great Stake Conference with Elder Brian Taylor of the Seventy this weekend. He did this thing where he had all the primary kids stand on their chairs and sing I am a Child of God, then the youth stood and joined the second verse, then the whole congregation finished the last verse. That was such a cool experience!

Anyway, I'll stop talking now and let a few pictures tell the rest of the story! Love you all,
Godspeed!
