SO.MUCH.SNOW.
Hello all you beautiful people!
This week has been pretty gnarly. I've honestly been reminded a lot of the year at camp when we got snowed in. Just like that week, we've had to shovel ourselves out almost every day. It's been pretty exciting. :D
Monday was pretty crazy. We drove to Ames for p-day, but while we were here a really bad storm hit, and they wouldn't let us drive home, due to a 80-something car pileup. Super scary. So we impromptu stayed the night in the tiny Boone apt with 6 missionaries. Good times.
Tuesday we were able to drive home, I drove, since my comp is from Arizona and doesn't even know how to walk in the snow. (jk, he's super cool). We got home, had a lesson with Randy, and then the Boone Elders came to Carroll for an exchange. I was with Elder Littlefield, who came out at the same time I did, and we had some good adventures in the outlying towns.
Wednesday we wrapped up the exchange. That evening we had the cool experience to teach our neighbor, who just had a very loud, angry breakup with his girlfriend. I had passed up a few promptings to talk to him in the past, and felt terrible when this all blew up next door. So on exchanges I saw him and we set up an appointment to teach him the next night. We had a pretty good lesson with him, and hopefully he'll take it seriously. Pretty cool experience.
Thursday was awesome and crazy. We drove back to Boone for district meeting, and then we had exchanges in Ft Dodge. So we drove another hour up there, and went to a member dinner another hour out of ft dodge. It was super fun, but typically a storm hit while we were there. That drive home was one of the scariest of my life! But we made it home safe.
Friday we woke up to 11 inches of fresh powder. I've never wanted to go skiing so bad... The plows couldn't keep up, so they had to ground all the cars. So we just hung out with the Zone Leaders for most of the day. Did some shoveling... Good times, good pics.
The weekend was spent trying to catch up on all the lessons we'd missed, so it was hectic but good.
Anyway, have a poem.
Father, bless me with the strength,
O'er adversity and sin,
To do all things you've asked me to,
With faith, at length, to win.
Father, help me to obey,
To ask, to learn, to move.
But when my motion shows no devotion,
Father, help me improve.
Oh, Father, as I try to have,
Thy Spirit in me to fill,
Increase the fraction of my actions
That show me Thy disciple.
Lastly Father, as I pray,
To with Thee, become as one,
Though I know I am so flawed,
Help me be like Thy Son.
I love you all, hope you have an excellent week!
Here is a video. Elder Broby has been doing a bit of experimenting with the properties of snow.
