When the Hail and Mighty Storm Beat Upon You

Image
Hey all y'all!  I'm gonna be honest with you, this week has been the most difficult of my mission. During weekly planning last week I remember specifically saying that this week would be the best week. Guess I'm not prophetic.  Monday and  Tuesday  were wrecked by ice storms, so we hardly left our apartment. It was miserable.  Wednesday  was warm enough that we were able to go out, which was a huge blessing. That morning we got a text from Jenny, saying that she didn't want to be baptized anymore. She wouldn't tell us why. So that hung over us most of the day. We were able to meet with her that night, and she said she still wanted to do everything a member would do, but just hadn't felt the Spirit tell her to be baptized yet. We were pretty bold about how she needed to ask in prayer if she wanted an answer, and then to have faith. I thought the lesson went well. We had high hopes.  The next morning we woke up to a text saying that she...

Patience Gives Validity to Faith

Hello all you beautiful people!  This week has been super average, so I don't have a lot of fun things to talk about. So please excuse the lack of details.  Tuesday  was Zone Conference, so we spent the night in Boone on Monday. Had FHE with some crazy members there. Played a game called aggravation. Very aggravating.  Due to zone conference however, there was no exchanges, district meetings, etc to break up the monotony of the everyday work. So It made for a long week. Elder Broby and I had fun though. We made it fun though! We journeyed back to the massive concrete Iowa thing so that Elder Broby could get some pictures there. The weather also warmed up, which really contributed to my sanity. Elder Broby is so easily duped by things pertaining to cold, it's fantastic! This whole weekend has been filled with my stomping on melting ice, and soaking him with the slush. He's starting to retaliate though...  Anyway, we've spent a lot of time working...

SO.MUCH.SNOW.

Hello all you beautiful people!  This week has been pretty gnarly. I've honestly been reminded a lot of the year at camp when we got snowed in. Just like that week, we've had to shovel ourselves out almost every day. It's been pretty exciting. :D  Monday was pretty crazy. We drove to Ames for p-day, but while we were here a really bad storm hit, and they wouldn't let us drive home, due to a 80-something car pileup. Super scary. So we impromptu stayed the night in the tiny Boone apt with 6 missionaries. Good times.  Tuesday  we were able to drive home, I drove, since my comp is from Arizona and doesn't even know how to walk in the snow. (jk, he's super cool). We got home, had a lesson with Randy, and then the Boone Elders came to Carroll for an exchange. I was with Elder Littlefield, who came out at the same time I did, and we had some good adventures in the outlying towns.  Wednesday  we wrapped up the exchange. That evening we had the cool...

Unto the Last Hour

Hello fam and squad!  This week has been one of the longest, but most fulfilling weeks of my mission. (And life for that matter...) I just love being a missionary!  Last p-day was pretty crazy! We got a bread recipe from Sister Badger, and spent the day making bread! It was so good! We're now learning how to be temperate in our consumption of said bread. This week we've downed about a loaf a day... Yeah.  Tuesday  was ridiculous! We were able to teach Randy that morning, he's on date for  Feb 24th , and is super solid! Great lesson! The rest of the day was spent with lesson after lesson falling through, making for a super long day! We were then able to teach Jenny, and she made us dinner! She's amazing.  Wednesday  we spent a ton of time knocking, and literally no one listened to us. It was brutal. Thankfully it was sorta warm, so that was good.  Thursday  was a cool, long day as well. This was the first district meeting ...
