When the Hail and Mighty Storm Beat Upon You
Hey all y'all!
I'm gonna be honest with you, this week has been the most difficult of my mission. During weekly planning last week I remember specifically saying that this week would be the best week. Guess I'm not prophetic.
Monday and Tuesday were wrecked by ice storms, so we hardly left our apartment. It was miserable.
Wednesday was warm enough that we were able to go out, which was a huge blessing. That morning we got a text from Jenny, saying that she didn't want to be baptized anymore. She wouldn't tell us why. So that hung over us most of the day. We were able to meet with her that night, and she said she still wanted to do everything a member would do, but just hadn't felt the Spirit tell her to be baptized yet. We were pretty bold about how she needed to ask in prayer if she wanted an answer, and then to have faith. I thought the lesson went well. We had high hopes.
The next morning we woke up to a text saying that she doesn't want to meet with us anymore. We haven't been able to make contact with her since then. That basically made Thursday the saddest day of my mission, maybe of my life. Please pray for her.
We had exchanges in Boone on Thursday, so we drove down there in the morning, but the stupid ice storm arrived right when we did. So we were grounded again. At least we were with other missionaries to distract me from all the stupidity of the day.
Friday was district meeting, which was a huge blessing! It was a little sad as it was the last one with this district, which is definitely my favorite district so far. Bittersweet.
Then we had exchanges with the zone leaders, cause they were supposed to interview Jenny for baptism. On Saturday the weather was supposed to be bad, but we were sick of staying inside, so we went out anyway. It's hard to walk up ice coated steps...
But despite it all, and despite the storm blowing in, Randy was baptized and confirmed a member of the church this week!!!! I love that guy. That was exactly how this week needed to end. There is always a light at the end of the tunnel. I know that!
I love you all, hope you have an excellent week! Transfer calls are this evening, so be watching for the address change later tonight! (Note from mom: he did not get transferred-staying in Carroll for now!)
Godspeed!
Here's a short poem:
The water ripples in the pool,
The light reflects as it fills,
Swirling around, chaos rules,
But with these ripples, my soul stills.
