Feed My Sheep

Hello Everyone!!

This week was pretty normal. I've really started to settle into Carroll this week. It's crazy how time moves on the mission. Quincy already feels like a distant memory, one to be remembered with fondness, but distant nonetheless. I see that as a tender mercy. Mark Twain once said , "comparison is the thief of joy". That is definitely true of comparing areas, and so I count it a blessing to feel distant from Quincy, despite the love I have for that place.

That's my deep thought for the day.

Tuesday was one of those great days full of work, when everything just goes great! We met with Randy that morning and taught him the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and the Word of Wisdom. He's super prepared, and is totally gonna get baptized in February.
We were also able to meet some less actives, and they were super awesome and accepting, and one of them, Brother Johnston, agreed to come help us with some lessons this week! Love that.

Wednesday was awesome! We worked at our ridiculously amazing food pantry, taught Jeff the Word of Wisdom, and had an AMAZING lesson with Jenny!

I'm not sure how much I told you about her, but she's the best!

She is Mong, raised in California, and when she was little her whole family joined the church. She wasn't old enough, and by the time she was, her family was inactive.

She was found and taught be earlier missionaries, but they stopped teaching her, do to a pretty crazy catholic boyfriend. But we decided to stop by and see if anything had changed.

CRAZY BOYFRIEND IS GONE!!!

Long story short, we taught her, she has the most sincere desire to know the truth out of (almost) anyone I've met. She accepted a baptismal date in February, and also informed us that she was going to feed us in the future. Love her even more.

ANYWAY!  Thursday we were on exchanges in Ft Dodge, which is a bigger city, but super dirty and ghetto. Lots of crime there, so it was a pretty interesting day.

Friday was interviews, which took FOREVER. Ft Dodge zone is the biggest in the mission. (Quincy was the smallest. It's a change) But it was super fun! I love my district so much!

Saturday was supposed to be an open day, but we ended up giving service most of the day. We were cleaning out this sweet Lutheran lady's garage, and we found a box of vinyl records! It was so cool! She had a bunch of Ray Charles, Billy Joel, The Eagles, Manhattan Transfer... I was in heaven.

Then we spoke in Sacrament meeting, which was neat. I kinda like the feel of a branch. Definitely different, but it's a good different.

Anyway! Here's a poem!

Faith
Belief, Hope,
Asking, Seeking, Knocking,
Looking for Knowledge, Acting upon it,
Pondering, Praying, Serving,
Testimony, Knowledge,
Truth

No pictures this week, my camera is full. Sorry!
Love you all! Godspeed!
