Faith is like a Seed

Hello Friends,

This week has been pretty cool, but it's also lasted for a long time!
I guess to preface the whole thing, the people in Quincy are so amazing! They just start conversations with us, and are super accepting of our message. When we got here we had no investigators, and so far we've found 28 new investigators. But this week all but 13 of them dropped us. It's been hard to come to terms with that, but the key is to focus on the progress we are making with a few of those 13. It's been long, kinda hard, but definitely worth it.

On another note, I've come to realize a mindset that is really frustrating. That's the, "at least I planted a seed" mindset. So often this ward, the missionaries, and everyone really, get caught in this trap where we justify ourselves by saying that we've done our part by planting a seed. It's super important to plant seeds of faith, but our job is to nurture those seeds and help them grow. Don't get caught in that mindset ever! Your job is to share the gospel and to invite people to try it out by experimenting on that faith. Please try to do that more in your lives.

Faith is like a flower,
It grows from a little seed.
In that single speck, potential,
Just waiting to be freed,

That's where we, the gardeners,
step into the scene,
We nurture, water, prune, and weed,
What ere it needs, we bring.

Gardeners plant some seeds, for sure,
But that is not their goal.
We're here to help, to foster growth,
To love, and feed that soul.

So drop your fears and find your faith,
God has His souls to grow!
He trusts us with His garden, and says,
to reap, not just sow.

That's my poetic rant on that. On to a funny story or two.

First off, I found out my companion likes High School Musical. I almost came home from the mission over that. It was bad. We're working through that one. I think he's starting to understand that he too can repent and find real happiness in his life.

Also, we found out that there have been four shootings in the last six months where we've been doing most of our knocking, so we're changing our finding strategy a lil' bit going forward.

Love you all! Have some pictures!
