Another Day - Jan. 28, 2019

Hello again.  Life is pretty great out here in D-Pit! Because of some crazy cold weather that's going to hit the next couple of days we had to reschedule transfer calls, so we got our calls last night instead of tomorrow, and Elder Schoeneman and I are going to stay together till March. Super pumped about that. If we can survive being trapped in our apartment the next couple days, then this transfer is going to be dumb lit. Exciting times!  Also, s/o to my man Elder Harvath for staying in Quincy.  Anyway, this week has been one for the books, that's for sure. We were able to go to Dubuque for p-day and an exchange, which was fun. However we got hit by some crazy freezing rain on Tuesday morning... If you've ever been to that town, you know how many hills that place has. So we weren't able to do much without dying. We did get some pics with some murals by their house though, so that's neat.  We had another exchange that night in our area, bu...

Well, here we are again folks! Because of the holiday today we are emailing on our phones, and I'm just not in the mood to send a long email today. My apologies in advance for the brevity of this one.  This week was cold. We went sledding last pday, but then we found out that's against the rules... So don't go sledding folks. It was fun though.  We had a bunch of lessons this week, some really cool people.  Anyway, love you all! S/o to Elder Harvath.  Godspeed  Elder Housholder 1. Sushi w/ the bois  2. Nerf war 3-4. Dinner with the one, the only, the Tom.  5. Sledding with the squad!

"Stop, and Stand Still"- Jan 14, 2019

Wow. It's already been another week! More than that, I hit 18 months on Saturday... It's honestly a little scary to think about. I have very little time left, and I don't want this to end. I love my mission. I love the memories I've made and the people I've touched. I'm so grateful that I still have 6 months left!  Anyway! This week was lit. We had a crazy sorta/half/kinda bash with a stud named Justin. He is way cool, I'd totally be his friend, but man does he have an arsenal, especially of stuff that appeals to my mind. Of course I left that discussion with my faith intact, but he did stir up some old doubts and things that haven't bothered me for a long time. If there's one thing I've learned from studying the Book of Mormon though, is that we really can question with boldness and faith. I saw that again this week. The Book of Mormon is true folks! If you have any doubt about that, confront it with a prayerful study of the Book of Mormon....

"2019... You're Never Going Home!"-Elder McCain - Jan 7, 2019

Wow, it's 2019. To all you haters gone home (Justin, J.C, Katri, Ben...) 2019 did come, and I've almost got 6 months left. It's wild.  Anyway. It was a pretty bipolar week here in Bettendorf. We spent a lot of time with other missionaries on New Years and New Years Eve cause we weren't supposed to proselyte on either of those days. It was a good time, we played some fun games and ate some food and did some bowling.  But then, disaster struck! On the evening of the first, we found ourselves very sick. The next two days were spent in our apartment, mostly just sleeping and being sad. Elder Schoeneman got it bad enough that the mission nurse actually sent us to the ER. We were there for 4 hours, got to watch the entire Lakers game, and got out at 2 in the morning, and turns out he was totally fine.  Anyway, we recovered and went on exchanges. I was so sick of being cooped up that I just took Elder Caterson (whom I was with for the day) and went finding for ...

Happy New Year you beautiful people!  This week has definitely been a good one! We obviously had Christmas, which was super fun! The family we went to, the Davidson's, are some of the coolest members I've ever met. I love them! We also had a big zone beckfast on Christmas morning, which was a riot! Have I ever mentioned how much I LOVE CHRISTMAS?!?!?! I'm way sad it's over, but there's no way anyone is gonna stop me from listening to Christmas music. #christmasneverdies. We also had MLC the day after Christmas! Getting to see my people and go back to Iowa City was right up there with talking to the fam in terms of my favorite gift this year. I miss those people so much! S/o to all the peeps at MLC, especially Elders Barney, Harvath, Clark, Shelp, and Sisters Harmon, Plumb, and Pearson.  Another important thing that happened this week was the untimely demise of Israel Rivera, our treasured companion of 10 days. He has been greatly missed since he flew ba...
