Get SIP'N! - September 17, 2018

Hello again my dear friends! Another week has come and gone, and they just keep going faster and faster. The mission is so amazing, and it just makes me sad to think of how quickly it goes by. 

This week was super exciting, and was mostly focused around Zone Conference. Elder Anderson and I were asked to give a training on "the higher law of the word of wisdom"... 

For those unaware, higher law trainings are the worst. Some of the most painful moments of my mission have been sitting through higher law trainings. So, hearing our topic brought much despair for a season... But never fear, we emerged triumphant! 

You see, we bought baby bottles, and discovered that it's super hard to get liquid out of the bottle, due to the size of the hole. As we pondered our training, we realized that just like the bottle restricts the liquid, disobedience to the word of wisdom limits our ability to receive the milk of the gospel, and be nourished by the blessings of the spirit. 

What specific blessings, you ask? 

Get SIP'N! 

This is the acronym that explains the reason why, or the blessings from living the word of wisdom, and how it's not just a health code. Here's the explanation :

Sanctification 
Inspiration 
Protection 
and, 
Nowledge! 

That's the higher law of the word of wisdom folks, and to top it off, we made Get SIP-N stickers which now cover half the mission. Truly a training never to be forgotten. 

Also, zone conference was in Nauvoo again, and it was so good to be back. I love that place. 

Anyway, life is great, this week was super busy, hardly had time to think, but I wouldn't have it any other way!

Hello all you beautiful people!  This week has been pretty gnarly. I've honestly been reminded a lot of the year at camp when we got snowed in. Just like that week, we've had to shovel ourselves out almost every day. It's been pretty exciting. :D  Monday was pretty crazy. We drove to Ames for p-day, but while we were here a really bad storm hit, and they wouldn't let us drive home, due to a 80-something car pileup. Super scary. So we impromptu stayed the night in the tiny Boone apt with 6 missionaries. Good times.  Tuesday  we were able to drive home, I drove, since my comp is from Arizona and doesn't even know how to walk in the snow. (jk, he's super cool). We got home, had a lesson with Randy, and then the Boone Elders came to Carroll for an exchange. Big Plays - June 3, 2019

Our zone motto this transfer is No MOBP'S. That stands for, "missed out on a big play". Like in sports the plays that change the game, the big ones, require the most involvement and dedication. In the grand contest of missionary work, we are privileged to participate in many big plays, and this week has been full of those.  Brothers and Sisters, I can honestly say that there is no more rewarding experience than working for the salvation of others and finding yourself in the right place at the right time, as God calls a play that will change someones entire life. What an honor to be a part of this great work of Salvation. I am so thankful for the opportunity to be a missionary, I love it more than anything in the world. That all being said, this week was great! Just Chilling in Cedar Rapids-Sept. 10, 2018

This week has been wonderful! So crazy.  On Tuesday, we had exchanges with the fourth ward, and we had a riot. Cool experience that day, we were trying and trying to just eat dinner, but things kept getting in the way, and we kept finding people to teach, so our priorities were against eating. Anyway, after a baptism that night for the YSA, we decided to go to Wendy's. Right when we got out of the car, late at night, starving and just wanting to eat, a couple guys flagged us down and we had an amazing lesson with them. I love being about the Lord's work, and being able to put my desires aside to do the things he would have me do. Wednesday was interviews! That was crazy. We had interviews in Iowa City in the morning and then had to bomb it up to Cedar Rapids in the middle of the storm for interviews in the afternoon. Very long day.
