Interviews, Egg Miracles, and Goats- June 4

Well hello!

I cannot believe it has only been one week! So much has happened this week, it blows my mind that it is only been 7 days. I guess that's how it goes though.

Monday was a pretty good day. Centerville came up here for exchanges
on Tuesday,
 so w
e
 were able to spend
p-
day with them. We had a good time. Elder Clark and I were on exchanges, and on Monday night we found a couple pretty cool people. It was the first time in a long time that I've had an enjoyable Monday night working.

Tuesday, we wrapped up the exchange, and
Elder Fuller
and I were able to do some work that evening. It was a fun day. I really like the attitude of this district. Everybody seems very optimistic and there is a lot of faith surrounding the the goals we've all set for baptism
s
. I'm excited for this transfer.

I honestly don't remember what happened on Wednesday... Missionary work probably.

Thursday was interviews!  Man, I just love
P
resident and
S
ister
B
adger! It's always so wonderful to be able to talk with them and to get
my bearings
. I just love them.

For district meeting, we were able to watch a bunch of the new new training videos for using technology in missionary work. I
n our
zone, we are talking a lot about being creative in our finding. Our zone has a reputation for being
a little difficult
, and a lot of the time people lose enthusiasm while here. So it's a
c
hallenge to keep our missionaries motivated. And so in our district, we are emphasiz
ing
how we can be creative in finding and teaching using technology. It's been really cool! The missionaries are realizing how useful things like Facebook can be
,
and are coming up with all sorts of ideas to use it in their work.

Oh,
it
was also elder Fullers year mark. Craziness.

On Friday, I woke up feeling terrible. My insides were not getting along. So we tried to be effective, but there is only so much I could do. as the day continued, I started praying pretty hard to have strength for a lesson with our egg factory investigator that night. The strength definitely came, I still didn't feel great, but I felt good enough to go for it. We went to the church, tried to get in touch with her, and heard nothing.. President Ralston came to help with the lesson, but our investigator was nowhere to be found.

We decided to drive back to the egg factory! And President Ralston followed us, and we attempted to make contact in this compound once again. Turns out, our friend was in Des Moines. Pretty frustrating. However, one of the other interns in the factory answer the door. She was also from South Africa, and we started to share our message with her. She's amazing, and it was super cool to be able to to teach her and have such an amazing first contact experience while the branch President was there. There's a lot of trust that comes when we have experiences like that with members. We talked her about the Book of Mormon, and she gladly accepted one. We invited her to church, and she's excited to try to come. Then
P
resident Ralston invited her to watch the
Be One
celebration that night. We don't know if she did, but we really hope so! The celebration was amazing!

Saturday was CRAZY! We found out the possible source of my stomach troubles... Turns out the water in
Southwest
Iowa is all poison now... We have to buy bottled water or boil it all now... Exciting.

Anyway, we were driving from town to town, and we saw a sign that said, "Kent-1

mile" and we decided to check this place out
, see if there was someone to teach.

As we arrived, we saw very few traces of civilization... Only a ton of broken cars. It was pretty erie. Suddenly, a goat popped out of a car! Now, I speak fluent goat, so I started communicating with this goat, who's name is Fred. However, within moments, the bleeting of other Goats began to fill the air... Before we knew what was happening, we had a herd of 26 goats following us. Imma try to attach the videos. They're great.

But our adventure in Kent was not over! In our attempts to find a human being, we first found a peacock walking the street, and suddenly found ourselves sliding down a muddy road, almost into a creek... Yep. An hour later, after attempting to escape the jungle on the edge of Kent, we finally got out, covered in mud. It was an adventure for sure.

Anyway! Sunday was great, we were able to listen to the Prophet teach us all about the urgency of the gathering of Israel right now. I'm so grateful to be a missionary right now!

Love y'all! Keep on the covenant path!

Here's a bunch of pictures. Most of them are about goats. One is about a Peacock. One is the Mud.

(editor's note-he sent home a pretty funny video of him talking goat, but alas...it appears to be too large to add here.)
