"How has grace changed you?" - June 25, 2018

Wow. We all expected this week to be the longest week of the transfer. It turned out to be insanely fast. I cannot believe it is pday again.  Last Monday was pretty great. We had a district pday in Osceola, which was great. It's hard to everyone to be alone on pday, so it was nice to have have people to see.  Then we drove to Waukee to stay the night with the Walnut Hills elders. That was a good time.  Tuesday was Zone Conference! Definitely one of the greatest ones of my mission. They just keep getting better! This one was particularly unique though, because the people who were as old as I am now when I started my mission all gave their departing testimonies. To see all these people who I've gotten so tight with over the past year share their thoughts and feelings about their missions, was a very bittersweet experience. With the exception of Elder Fuller, every missionary from my original Quincy squad will have gone home this transfer. It's unreal.  ...

It's so Green! - June 18, 2018

Hello friends and family! The corn is about 3 feet tall. I'm still a missionary. Today is p-day. Life is great!  I am frequently blown away how green it is here, and how many kinds of green there are! Y'all know that I used to make fun of the midwest, and how boring it must be... And it definitely is boring, but that doesn't mean it isn't beautiful! I love it!  This week was quite an adventure!  We were in Waukee for p-day and had a riot. Elder Fuller and I made shirts for everyone, it was great! Then we were able to have supper with the Drummonds in Des Moines before heading home. I just love them!  On the way home we got caught in a knarly storm. The lightning in Iowa usually stays in the clouds, and just looks really cool up there. Not so this time. Add to that a torrential downpour with the greenest sky I've ever seen. We were scared. Thank goodness for prayer. We are still alive.  Tuesday  was great! I tried to make a training, but it...

Fireflies, Parasites, and Summer Nights!

Hello friends and family!  It's hard to believe summer is actually here!  Tomorrow  is 11 months out, kids aren't in school anymore, the corn is growing, and I'm still a missionary. It's super weird.  This week has also been super weird.  Monday  was spent attempting to wash the dishes with our wonderful poison water. That took a long time.  Tuesday  was the best of days, and the worst of days. We woke up with our bowels absolutely wrecked. Turns out we still got some of the poison... We spent the day on our beds or the toilet. The mission nurse was pretty sure that we had parasites. She had us take some meds in case it was something else, and they worked, so I guess we don't have parasites! Yay!  So that was why it was the worst of days, here's why it was so great! Right around 6 that night, we got a text from our investigator DJ saying that he'd made us supper. Yes! We weren't able to eat much, but we had been trying to get ...

Interviews, Egg Miracles, and Goats- June 4

Well hello!   I cannot believe it has only been one week! So much has happened this week, it blows my mind that it is only been 7 days. I guess that's how it goes though.  Monday was a pretty good day. Centerville came up here for exchanges on Tuesday,  so w e  were able to spend p- day with them. We had a good time. Elder Clark and I were on exchanges, and on Monday night we found a couple pretty cool people. It was the first time in a long time that I've had an enjoyable Monday night working.  Tuesday, we wrapped up the exchange, and Elder Fuller  and I were able to do some work that evening. It was a fun day. I really like the attitude of this district. Everybody seems very optimistic and there is a lot of faith surrounding the the goals we've all set for baptism s . I'm excited for this transfer. I honestly don't remember what happened on Wednesday... Missionary work probably.  Thursday  was in...
