Small and Simple Things

Hello friends and family! I hope you are all doing wonderfully! I feel like it's been forever since last Monday, it was a crazy week for sure! So,  on Monday , we had our zone p-day! It was a riot! We got to go to Des Moines, see all my friends, eat chick fil a, and play basketball. It was great! It was also 70 degrees and sunny... I was in heaven! That night we had an exchange in Walnut Hills, because we had interviews the next morning in Indianola. On the exchange, elder Jensen and I were able to teach this awesome African lady. I've never been able to find my own African investigator, but it was awesome to finally teach one! They're amazing people. Tuesday  was a great day! We had interviews and district meeting, which is always really refreshing and grounding. I just love the Badgers so much. I have the best mission president. He's also a beast at ping pong. Elder Clayson challenged him to a game, and got wrecked pretty good. It was awesome!  Wednesd...

Spring?

Image
Hello Brothers and Sisters, dear friends! Well, the sky is finally blue again, and it has been over 40 degrees all day, so I'm praying that means spring is finally here! If it snows again, you might be hearing from me from a mental ward. This week has been a long one, not for any reason in particular, but it just felt like a short eternity. We had a good time though!  Monday was obviously p-day, and we had the Centerville Elders come up for the day and for an exchange that night. Elder Steed is the king of games, and brought a seemingly simple game called Coup. By the end of the day we must have played 100 times. It was nuts! Super fun though.  Tuesday , still on exchanges with elder steed. Found my first new investigator here in Lenox, it was rad. We had some excellent conversations about faith unto salvation as  well. I'd encourage you to read Joseph Smiths lectures on faith, they are pretty great! Wednesday  was just cold. I'm just done with win...

...To Lenox...

Well folks, This week was crazy, with transfers and all. I don't have a ton of time to email, so we'll make this the cliffnotes version.  Monday was exchanges in Boone for transfer calls. We found a bridge, and as usual I found myself having climbed it before I knew what had happened. Pics included.  Tuesday was transfer calls. I got sent to Lenox, which is the southwest corner of the mission, to be with Elder Fuller! He's my favorite. Super funny guy. Elder Alton stayed in Carroll, Elder Mather stayed in Boone, and Elder Littlefield went to QUINCY!!! I'm jealous, to say the least.  Wednesday  was super p-day. We went to Ledges State Park with the Boone goons, to see the "canyon" in Iowa.I included some pics, see if you can find a canyon, I sure can't.  Thursday  was transfers! Got to Creston, where we live in a little cottage, and went to help some people move. Good times.  Friday  was district meeting in Osceola. I decide...

Have Miracles Ceased? Nope.

Hello Squad!  I'm honestly having a hard time remembering where this week started and stopped...  OH! So, there was a definite miracle  on Tuesday . We got hung up in Boone  on Monday , and weren't able to go shopping, so we decided to go the next morning. So there we were, walking through Walmart, and I hear someone call for us! I look, AND IT'S JENNY!!!! It'd been almost an entire transfer since we'd talked, and she was there! I was thrilled. As we caught up, we found out she's MOVING to Sacramento! This was basically the last possible time we could've seen her. Thankfully, God provided a way, and we were able to get her new address, and send the missionaries to see her over there. #tendermercies Wednesday  we had exchanges in Carroll with Boone. Elder Littlefield and I had like, three Spanish lessons. I had no clue what was happening, but he did, so it worked. We were also able to miraculously find an investigator whom we had no address for. ...

A Sense of Urgency

Wow. This week has been incredible. I am so grateful that I am able to serve the Lord in the final stages of the gathering of Israel. For those considering a mission, just do it. You can't even imagine the blessings before you go. Anyway! Tuesday we had a pretty amazing experience being led to a specific door. Between Elder Alton and I, we were prompted to change our schedule, go knock an apartment, told which apartment (even though it was on the other end of town), and which floor. It was pretty neat. We met a girl named Kjersten, who is amazing. Sadly, her mother was militant about us leaving. So despite the wonderful lesson we had, we are unsure if we will ever be able to meet with her again. In any case, I have learned through this experience to trust the Spirit a little more, and I'm grateful for that. Wednesday was an exchange with Elder Mather. We had a good time. There were a few referrals we had to visit on the edge of the mission, turns out they all spoke Spanish....
