Quincy is the Promised Land

Holy macaroni! I can't believe I haven't told any of you about last week yet!!! I have so much to tell you!  Honestly, almost all week has revolved around a couple we started teaching this week, so it's time for you to meet Kevin and Rachel!  The story begins last Monday, at  6pm . You have to understand that nights in the midwest are the worst, because everyone goes to bed when the sun goes down. To make matters worse, working on p-day evening, we don't get a dinner hour, so we have to knock until 9. It's brutal.  On top of that, it started raining right at 6.  Honestly, we didn't have good moods at all. But we had to go out and work, after all, I'd just written a poem about this whole concept. Definitely wasn't about to let that be poetic hypocrisy! So, knocking we went!!  After a train of events, we ended up in a trailer park on the edge of town. I'd never knocked a trailer park before, but I definitely wasn't looking for...

Transfers!

Hey y'all!  This week was some crazy stuff! Super fun, super long, but also super short at the same time... Time makes zero sense out here.  Anyway, last Monday was NOT p-day, which was pretty lame. We did still get to email though, which was great! Then  Tuesday  was transfer calls, which settled our fates! Some crazy stuff happened, but as far as our area goes, Elder Hadfield from Hannibal got replaced by Elder Olsen, and Elder Ingram (Love him! Gonna miss him!) got replaced by Elder Mitchell, whom I already love as well.  Then,  on Wednesday , we had our Transfer P-day before everyone took off to their new areas. We went to Nauvoo to go to the Temple, then we had a big lunch party at a member's home, drank some hot sauce, and headed to Carthage. That was such an incredible place. If any of you are ever out here, please visit the jail.  Then everybody took off and showed up  on Thursday . But honestly, it was a pretty boring ...

Other Sheep I Have...Them I Must Bring

Hello Friends and Family! (That's what Elder McCain calls every group he encounters...) For starters, like I said  on Tuesday , Neil is totally dead. It's so weird. But there have been SO many miracles coming from his passing. It's incredible! I mentioned that we were able to teach his sister, Jeri, and she wants to keep learning, which is incredible. She is also inviting another sister, Debbie (@mtc district 44a), to be taught  on Wednesday , which is so cool!  Also, watching the ward reach out and take care of their family has been incredible.  On Wednesday  our Elder's Quorum President went to bring a meal to their home, and while Jeri wasn't home, one o Neil's good friends was. His name is Glen. He called the Ward Mission Leader and asked to be taught by us, and said he wants to come to church next week. What? People don't set up their own lessons. Call him a super investigator! Can't wait to see where this goes. Also, one of our previous in...

Sent to Bear Witness of that Light

Hello again!  Talk about a crazy week, where to begin... Well,  Tuesday  we had an exchange with the Zone Leaders, which was super fun, and Elder May and I found some incredible people! Hopefully they pan out, so far they haven't been super great at keeping appointments. We'll see.  Then, because we had the New Trainers Meeting in Iowa City  on Wednesday , we drove out to Kirksville to stay the night with Elder Fackrell and Elder Steed (who was in my MTC district) so we could drive up together the next morning. The meeting was awesome, it was so great to see the Elders from 44a again. We totally went to the food court and I FINALLY ATE CHICK-FIL-A  AGAIN!!!! Oh man, if things that addict you are against the Word of Wisdom, Strawberry Frosted Lemonades are definitely a sin. So good.  Then we did another exchange that night in Kirksville, came back the next day, and took off to hand out Books of Mormons. There were two stakes trying t...
